Sophia graduated from the University of Maryland (UMD) with a degree in Environmental Science and Policy. She then went on to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at UMD’s Campus Pantry and Community Learning Garden. This experience tied Sophia’s passion for sustainability together with the issue of food security by growing fresh fruits and vegetables for students and staff in need. She is excited to continue working within food systems at Brighter Bites and to help improve access to nutritious produce for children and their families. In her free time, Sophia enjoys spending time outdoors and cooking for the people she loves.
