Brighter Bites, Dallas
As community relations for Brighter Bites in Dallas, Meredith spends her time at program sites working alongside families and volunteers, as well as reaching out to Dallas community members to spread the word about Brighter Bites. She is devoted to seeing the program flourish as it reaches more sites, touches even more families, and strengthens bonds in the Brighter Bites communities of Dallas. Her absolute best days are spent in those schools hearing from children and their families about the positive impact the Brighter Bites produce and nutrition education have had on their overall health and their children’s well-being.
In the years prior to joining Brighter Bites, Meredith worked in politics and government affairs. Minutes after graduating from college, she became a special assistant in the Washington, D.C. office of U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. Following her stint on Capitol Hill, Meredith held positions with the federal government affairs group of Microsoft Corporation, the state government relations division of The Coca-Cola Company, the public policy arm of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, and, most recently, the public affairs division of a large law and public affairs consulting firm.
Meredith decided to make a change in her career path when Brighter Bites Founder Lisa Helfman asked her to help establish the Brighter Bites program in Dallas. Though she had only just moved from Atlanta, Meredith quickly realized that her true passion was working in the community and embraced the Brighter Bites mission to help families choose a better kind of fast food.
Meredith graduated from Tulane University with a major in history and a minor in sociology. When she isn’t talking about Brighter Bites, Meredith and her husband Andy spend their time chasing after their two young daughters, Amelia and Catherine.
