Maria Martinez is a program coordinator for Brighter Bites in Austin, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree in Bilingual Healthcare Studies with a minor in Spanish from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas
Maria grew up in the border town of Brownsville, Texas, a city in the lower Rio Grande Valley, which introduced her to two different cultures growing up. Through her experience interning with a non profit organization during her time in college, she became passionate about advocating for underserved communities and knew she would one day pursue a career in the nonprofit sector. Maria found the mission that Brighter Bites advocates for would be a perfect fit as she wanted to help communities in Austin with all aspects of health including nutritional education!
Maria believes that health is wealth and enjoys contributing to an organization that teaches the value of that. In her spare time, Maria enjoys dancing, exploring new restaurants in the city, watching sci fi films, and spending time with her family and friends.
