Katherine McMahon

Regional Program Director
Los Angeles

Katherine McMahon is the regional program director in Los Angeles for Brighter Bites. Katherine received an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley where she studied Sociology and African-American studies. Katherine obtained an M.A.in Education from the University of San Diego. Katherine began her career as an Elementary School Teacher where she greatly enjoyed working with the students and families. She saw first-hand what it was like for her students to live in a community that was a food desert and how detrimental it was for their health. Katherine also saw some of her students experiencing hunger and food insecurity and was deeply concerned by this. Katherine is very excited to now be a part of Brighter Bites and helping to better serve communities with the empowerment of having both the nutritional education and access to healthy and fresh fruits and vegetables.

After her experience working as a teacher, Katherine joined the non-profit realm and worked with many community serving organizations. It has always been important to Katherine to be a part of a mission that creates the type of change she wants to see in the world. Katherine is appreciative to be a part of creating communities of health through fresh food.

Katherine has experienced the joys of browsing her local farmers market and loves seeing how eating fresh fruits and vegetables creates better health and wellness and vitality. Outside of work, Katherine enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, dancing, comedy shows and travel.
