Jessica Schauman is a senior program manager in Houston, Texas, where she organizes activities of the Brighter Bites program, including program implementation and evaluation, community relations, volunteer recruitment and engagement, and site operations. Additionally, she serves on the Houston CATCH team, concentrating on the implementation and expansion of Brighter Bites’ child-focused nutrition education and CATCH initiatives. Jessica most recently led the creation of an organization-wide orientation strategy that prepares Brighter Bites partner schools to reach their nutrition education goals, while also contributing to the development of lesson data tracking and accountability methods.

While pursuing her degree, she further developed her interest in the social effects of economic segregation and the influence of nutrition education on children’s health. Her background affords her a unique perspective on public health issues, and she values the opportunity to make an impact through her work with Brighter Bites.
Jessica has been a part of the Brighter Bites team since moving to Houston in August of 2015. In her free time, she and her husband enjoy trying new restaurants, camping, and spending time at home with their two boys, three dogs, and one very resilient fish.
