Emily Owen is a senior program manager on the Brighter Bites Washington, D.C. team.

Emily has always been passionate about serving underprivileged youth. After working closely with inner-city Washington, D.C. schools in her previous career, and spending time in rural communities in several third-world countries, she saw first-hand how crucial the roles of proper nutrition and education are in supporting vulnerable populations.

When she came across Brighter Bites online, Emily was immediately inspired by the organization’s mission and vision. She was particularly drawn to Brighter Bites’ data-driven approach and comprehensive model, promoting sustainable, positive change in communities, rather than short-term assistance.

Outside of Brighter Bites, Emily loves traveling, doing arts and crafts, and playing and coaching soccer.
