Paper City/Houston showcased the Brighter Bites’ 10th Anniversary Gala, which took place in Houston on November 2nd. With over 550 attending, the celebratory event featured the nonprofit’s work so far and its exciting plans for the future. Scott McClelland, H-E-B president, was a dynamic keynote speaker, and Brighter Bites’ San Antonio expansion was also announced during the event.

Lipman Family Farms, a major produce partner, was featured in the Naples Daily News for its continued contributions to Brighter Bites and their shared partner, the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
Brighter Bites was one of the charities that benefited from this year’s Naples Winter Wine Festival. The festival is run by the Naples Children and Education Foundation. Fox 4 in Naples covered the event.

Dr. Shreela Sharma participated in a special Q&A in December that discussed the importance of produce consumption among children. Dr. Sharma, a Brighter Bites co-founder, is a Professor of Epidemiology at UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston.
Channel 2/NBC Houston ran a story about the city’s newly-formed Food Insecurity Board, recently launched by Mayor Sylvester Turner to help fight hunger in Houston. The Board, which includes 19 Houstonians of different backgrounds and food experiences, includes Brighter Bites’ co-founder Lisa Helfman.
During the month of September, Brighter Bites’ programs were featured in a number of produce-focused publications. Our successful 2020 retail voucher program, which took place during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, was covered by Produce Blue Book, Perishable News, and And Now U Know.
