Our Brighter Bites Salinas team hosted a holiday party in December, and we were so grateful to see the support from the Monterey County community!

One highlight of the evening was having parent volunteer, Elizabeth, and her daughter, Jezlynn (8), speak. "For the last two years, Brighter Bites has made an enormous impact on our families eating habits. We could not afford to buy this amount of fruit and vegetables in the current financial climate. We look forward to the produce, cooking and eating together with healthy recipes," said Elizabeth. Jezlynn (age 8) told the guests "I get excited and feel happy when Brighter Bites are at my school. I once even tried a dragonfruit!"

Brighter Bites goes to Harvard! 📚

Our co-founders, Lisa Helfman and Dr. Shreela Sharma, and CEO, Rich Dachman, participated in the Agribusiness Seminar at the Harvard Business School in Boston from January 7 to 10, 2024 where a case study on Brighter Bites was studied.

The Seminar was attended by about 185 executives from food system-related firms around the world, and the Brighter Bites case was one of the twelve new case studies featured in the January program.

We were honored to be in a room with such bright minds and to share our mission, successes, and challenges with the seminar participants. Thank you @harvardhbs for this opportunity!

How does #BrighterBites work? Let’s get to the core of it. 🍎

Our program uses a three-part formula: Produce Distribution + #NutritionEducation + Fun Food Experience. We distribute about 50 servings of produce each week of programming, provide nutrition education for in the classroom and at home, and we talk to families about how to use their fresh produce through #healthyrecipe demonstrations.

Brighter Bites operates in 11 cities across the country and offers programming to over 200 schools, serving over 35,000 families!
