On September 23rd, Brighter Bites officially began delivering fresh produce and nutrition education across the city, kicking off our first full year of programming since merging with locally founded nutrition assistance initiative +BOX.⁠

✨ 6,000 students receiving nutrition lessons⁠
✨ 1,500 families supported⁠

We were thrilled to take part in @Chobani’s third annual Let’s Eat Week earlier this fall!⁠

Our Brighter Bites teams in New York and Pennsylvania joined Chobani volunteers to pack thousands of boxes filled with healthy foods that were distributed across the country, including to Brighter Bites schools in NYC and Bensalem.⁠

We were also delighted to bring students from PS 140M to the Chobani Cafe for a behind-the-scenes visit and a fun, hands-on healthy recipe making activity led by Chef Sal Padellaro.⁠

🎃 Spooktacular Squash Dip! 🥄✨⁠
⁠
This creamy, dreamy dip is perfect for fall! Packed with flavor, nutrition, and just 79 calories per ½ cup serving, it’s a healthy snack your whole family will love.⁠
⁠
Ingredients:⁠
* 1 butternut squash⁠
* 1 garlic clove, crushed⁠
* 2 Tbsp olive oil⁠
* 1 tsp salt⁠
* 6 oz plain, non-fat Greek yogurt⁠
* 1 tsp black pepper⁠
Directions:⁠
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Peel, seed, and cube the squash.⁠
2. Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast 20–25 min at 375°F, then 10–15 min at 400°F until browned.⁠
3. Cool, then blend squash with yogurt, garlic, and seasonings until smooth.⁠
4. Serve with veggies or crackers for dipping! 🥕🥒⁠

This week, Brighter Bites celebrated the official launch of our new 2.0 program model in Washington DC and Maryland!

Funded through the generous support of the Dohmen Company Foundation, this pilot is designed to make healthy choices easier and more sustainable for families through school-based produce distribution and nutrition education.

At Wheatley Education Campus, we heard from incredible speakers, including Principal Perz, Dr. Shreela Sharma (Brighter Bites Co-Founder), Rachel Roller (President & CEO of the Dohmen Company Foundation), and Brighter Bites participant and volunteer Sandy Hebenstreit, watched second graders blend the famous Hulk Smoothie! 🥦💚

A big thank-you to the @heb School of Retail Management for an incredible day of service with Brighter Bites at Cloverleaf Elementary in Houston, Texas! More than 60 @heb employees came together to donate and pack over 3,500 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, including bananas, broccoli, melons, peaches, pineapples, plums, summer squash, and tomatoes.⁠
⁠
Working side by side with Brighter Bites staff, the volunteers packed 210 bags of produce filled with nutritious ingredients for local families into their signature H-E-B shopping bags. In addition to the produce distribution, the team went above and beyond by donating school supplies and lending their time and energy to campus improvement projects that will benefit Cloverleaf students throughout the year.⁠

This partnership is a shining example of how corporate volunteers can help create communities of health through fresh food, service, and care. Thank you, H-E-B, for your continued commitment to nourishing Texas families
