What We Do
Brighter Bites is a nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits and veggies to kids and their families who lack regular access to fresh food. We make it fun and we make it free! Here’s how:
Our Not-So-Secret Formula
PRODUCE
DISTRIBUTION
Every week of programming, Brighter Bites heads to schools and summer camps to distribute fresh, seasonal produce for families and teachers to pick up and take home. Two bags contain about ~50 servings of fruits and veggies, weighing close to 20 pounds.
NUTRITION
EDUCATION
We teach kids, parents, and teachers how to make the most of their produce. We encourage teachers to utilize their bags during in-class lessons and we provide nutrition education handbooks, plus weekly tip sheets and recipes, for everyone to use at home.
FUN FOOD
EXPERIENCE
Brighter Bites staff engages with families through in-person culinary demonstrations, as well as through various digital platforms through the sharing of easy recipes, kitchen how-tos, culinary tips, and healthy topics.
Volunteer
Volunteers are key for our program’s success! Volunteers can expect to help with sorting and bagging fresh fruits and vegetables as well as distributing the produce to the families enrolled. Sign up today to be a part of Brighter Bites in the Las Cruces community!
Donate
$350 feeds one family for one year with fresh fruits and vegetables. Join us today and make big impact on the lives of students and their families.
